Veransa Group recently hosted a group of almost 50 participants from the Compost Research and Education Foundation (CREF) Compost Operations Manager Training Course (COTC) at its state-of-the-art manufacturing facility for organic compost, mulches, and soils in Seffner Florida.  This newly modernized 53-acre facility is also used to collect and recycle green and wood waste, which the company processes into highest quality organic products, including its REGEN Florida Organic Compost®, REGEN Composted Organic Mulch®, and REGEN-Turf ® for turf revitalization.

The facility tour included insights into the newly constructed site design, low-carbon emissions compost production procedures, as well as cutting edge equipment, such as the massive, Bacchus A75 compost windrow turner…the largest windrow turner in the world.  Veransa’s Seffner site has the only Bacchus A75 in the East Coast of the United States.

Other top-of-the-line equipment on display was the Sparta turnkey grinding system that includes an electric West Salem grinder and a Sparta feed system. At the system’s back end is a Sparta screening system composed of two Komtech screens, allowing much greater throughputs and consistent product output quality than the traditional trommel screens used by most competitors. This combination of high-end equipment allows Veransa provide top quality, consistently sized and textured, compost and mulch products, while also reducing the company carbon footprint.

Visitors included members of the CREF, teams from various state Departments of Environmental Protection, including Florida and Oklahoma, as well as members of the University of Florida, Institute of Food and Agriculture (IFAS) Extension, Colorado State University, and the Hillsborough County Department of Solid waste.  Also present were teams from other compost manufacturing and waste management companies, such as Atlas Organics, Denali Water Solutions, Southeast Soils, Indianhead Biomass and Soils, and Compost USA.

“The site was impressive, to say the least.  I would call it a model for how a composting site should be setup when given the proper resources to be successful”, said Zachary Villanova from Indianhead Biomass and Soils. “It’s also great to see electric equipment being used as opposed to traditional diesel”.

“We were delighted to have the opportunity to host such a diverse group of thought-leaders from our industry at our Seffner facility which was modernized to be a flagship example of sustainable production at industrial scale,” saif Roger Johansson, Chairman of Veransa Group.
